First Sea Trial Experience – Damen ASD 2913
My first trip started in July 2018, and what an experience it was!
I was part of the sea-trial team for a Damen ASD 2913 Tug,
MV Folashade, boasting an impressive 85-ton bollard pull.
It was also my first time in Galați, Romania, so everything
was new and exciting.
Early in the morning, we departed Galați and sailed down the Danube River toward Sulina—where the river meets the Black Sea. From there, we continued on to Constanța, where the official sea trials began.
The trial program included bollard pull tests, crash stops, winch tests, and various maneuvering trials. Everything went smoothly, and the sea trial was completed successfully. After wrapping up, we sailed the vessel back to Galați.
This first assignment was a valuable learning experience and marked the beginning of my journey in international vessel commissioning—an experience that left me eager for more.
